Kubelík rencontra un vif succès en 58-59 avec Le Dialogue des Carmélites,
offrant par là-même à Joan Sutherland son premier grand rôle à l'opéra (leurs
relations se seraient distendues assez vite ensuite). À noter la présence d'Elsie
Morison. Dommage que tout ceci soit en anglais ; c'est très recueilli, avec un
orchestre très affirmé.
J'ai repéré une petite vidéo de Sutherland dans le rôle de Mme Lidoine.
Kubelík gave this piece several time at Convent Garden in 1958-59 (cf.
story of Kubelík's period in Covent garden
. Halas, it is in English; a very attaching lecture nevertheless.
This was an UK premiere, following its world premiere at La Scala, Milan, on 27 January 1957.
