
	Symphonie Asraël SOBR - 1-2/10/1981 - Panton

Après la mort de son beau-père, un certain Antonin Dvořák, Suk décida d'écrire cette symphonie sur Asrael, l'Ange de la Mort ; sa femme mourut entre temps... Une grande interprétation : la comparaison de quelques mesures suffit pour faire oublier la pourtant belle version de Jiři Běholávek chez Chandos (contrairement pour une fois à l'avis de Jean-Charles Hoffelé, ci-contre).
A great interpretation of a masterpiece, very vivid and atmospheric. What's more, Kubelík's control throughout is awesome and he conjures up playing of enormous expressive subtlety from his fine Munich orchestra. In my experience, no other recorded performance - not even Vaclav Talich's legendary 1952 Supraphon account - succeeds in conveying the intensely personal nature of this music with such devastating emotional candour."

Une trilogie consacrée à la guerre de 14-18. La marche En vie nouvelle "reçut le deuxième prix au concours artistique des Jeux Olympiques de Los Angeles 1932" (sic !). Des musiques assez martiales et appuyées, exceptée l'op. 35a. Interprétations très vivantes et vécues, son correct pour l'époque, orchestre correct.
One of the last recordings with the Czech Philharmonic (with Smetana's symphonic poems). Interesting trilogy dedicated to the 1st world war; fair sound quality and vivid interpretations of course.
